Cruise Control: Debut Album
LA-based performer, songwriter, and producer VEID creates futuristic pop rooted in 80s-inspired instrumentation and forward-facing electronic production. Experimenting with the rigid images of what pop and R&B should look like, VEID perfectly walks that line while pushing the boundaries as a developing underground artist.
VEID was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was raised in Dallas, Texas. He grew up surrounded by the sounds of jazz and soulful music and knew very early on that music was what he was called to do. He kept songbooks as early as he could read and write, played instruments with his family of musicians, and at the age of 8, learned Für Elise by ear on a 61-key keyboard. He went on to learn classical piano, which would become the bedrock of VEID’s songwriting process, even after establishing himself as an experimental producer in his music.
In 2019, VEID released his debut EP, ‘king.' ‘king.’ told a short story of VEID’s young adulthood - it acted as an immortal affirmation. His experimental and electronic influence can be heard from the beginning, with tracks like ‘air,’ ‘can’t tell,’ and ‘friend.’
Continuing to develop his artistry after moving to LA in 2020, VEID began performing at various bars and venues around the city, establishing his local fanbase with his captivating stage presence. His sound drew inspiration from Prince, Ariana Grande, and Sickick, fusing these generational sounds all into one: 80s, pop, R&B, with a thick electronic body. This futuristic sound combined with VEID’s vocal range and acrobatics position him as someone capable of making waves in the underground scene.
